“THE TRANS KALABARI HIGHWAY AS CENTRAL GROUP COMMUNITIES ARE INCLUSIVE”

REFUTAL

The attention of the general public has been drawn out to a news publication in the “Newswriter” newspaper publication of 18 December, 2013 at Page 10 thereof on the above subject and which publication is considered as highly misleading and injurious. The facts as presented by Chief Y.O.C. Georgewill were misrepresented and without an iota of truth. It therefore calls for straightening of the records for the benefit of the reading public.

In the year 2007, the Dr. Peter Odili led Government of Rivers State awarded the Trans Kalabari Link/Highway to various contractors both indigenous and foreign. The O.K. Isokariari & Sons Nig. Ltd. was one of such indigenous contractors whose bidding was accepted by the Rivers State Government. The former was awarded the Minama/Krakrama and Abonnema Roads while the Omekwe Tarima/Omekwe Ama/Angulama/Sagama link roads were awarded to a Chinese company.

Amongst all contractors, only O.K,l. & Sons Nig. Ltd. moved to site at the height of badges of stone based, for the completion of the job. This gesture was heavily applauded by the successive Government of Rivers State led by His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi-Executive Governor of Rivers State at the stakeholders meeting held at the Rivers State Government House in 2008. I was present when His Excellency Governor Amaechi with dismay lodged his bitterness towards the ineptitude of the indigenous contractors who were given the contract for the construction of the Trans Kalabari Road Project. In the heat of passion, Rt. Hon. Amaechi applauded Chief O.K. Isokariari who was also present in the meeting for being the only exceptional contractor who took out his contract terms diligently and creditably but regretted that the Rivers State Government was owing the respected Chief and promised to pay him in due time. Consequent upon the remark by His Excellency, His Majesty King Prof. T.J.T. Princewill, JP, CFR, AMACHREE XI, Amanyanabo of Kalabari congratulated Chief 0. K. Isokariari in the meeting and reiterated: “My worthy son, you have made me proud…….”

His Excellency the Governor who acknowledged Chief O.K. Isokariari in the public as the exceptional one who performed his bid of the contract to the satisfaction of the government based on the mobilization fee paid, is still alive and His Majesty, King Prof. T.J.T. Princewill, AMACHREE XI, who congratulated his son (Chief O.K. Isokariari) in the presence of all the stakeholders is still alive. I advise Chief Y.O.C. Georgewill to go back to records and withdraw the misleading facts he has published and take correction.
