Road Project: PDP Guber Aspirant Squandered N3bn

gov-amaechiThe Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi said he will challenge the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to an integrity test.

The governor made the remark at the All Progressives Congress (APC) rally at Igwuruta, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State at the weekend. The governor said it will be unfair for those whose records are not clean to fight to become the governor of Rivers State.

He stated that the forty thousand capacity stadium was built by him, but the money for the construction of internal roads around the stadium that amount to 3 billion naira was embezzled by one of the aspirants in Peoples Democratic Party.

Governor Amaechi said the purpose of the rally was to test his popularity and prove that APC is not only on billboards in Rivers State.

He said many times people have made move to truncate his tenure but God has told him that he will finish his tenure, sited the case in Supreme Court that he won as one of such evidences.

The Rivers State governor maintained that the rally was also to mark the 7th year anniversary of the Supreme Court victory. The executive Governor said the All Progressives Congress will acknowledge that the “PDP has the President, the army, the police, but they don’t have God”.

He said, there will be change in Nigeria either good or bad in 2015. The governor used the occasion to thank members of Rivers State House of Assembly for refusing to be used by men who bribe them to impeach him. “I was not afraid of impeachment that is why I was traveling” he said.

Amaechi stated that he will deliver on his electioneering promises before living office next year.

On development of the state, he said much has been done in the area of agriculture, especially the Songhai Farm, the Banana Farm at Tai, LGA and the Risonpalm which generated a lot of employments.

He recalled that his disagreement with the president started when he gave Rivers State Oil wells to Bayelsa and Abia States respectively.

Earlier, the chairman of the Organizing Committee of the rally, the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Engr. Tele Ikuru said “the dream of positive change of our mother land has been achieved through the restoration by the Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi”.

On his part the speaker Hon. Otelemaba Dan Amachree said the 25 lawmakers have remained faithful with Amaechi despite intimidation, suppression, bribery with oil wells among others.

Also speaking, the member representing South-East Senatorial District, Senator Magnus Abe and Hon. Dakuku Peterside of the House of Representatives poured encomium on the governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Amaechi.

Others who gave solidarity messages include: Gen. Muhamudu Buhari (Rtd), Former Head of State, Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, APC National Chairman, Chief John Oyegun, Governor Rochas Okorocha and Hon. Emmanuel Deeyah who led PDP decampees to the rally.

In a swift reaction, the Presidential spokesman to President Goodluck Jonathan, Dr. Reuben Abati said the governor should be careful of his utterances, because there is a day of reckoning. He was reacting to the statement credited to the governor at the APC Mega Rally held last weekend.###
