Ibi-Tamuno School Hosts Interhouse Sports in Bonny …Dominion House Lifts Trophy

FLOWING PIC - IBIThe important of sports activities cannot be over-emphasized, hence government has included in the school curriculum nationwide.

Sequel to this, on Saturday the 21st February, 2015 one of the notable private schools in Bonny Island, Ibi-Tamuno Group of Schools rolled out her drum to organize the second edition of her interhouse sports which took place at the famous Bonny Nation Grammar School field, Bonny, the headquarters of the LGA.

In his address, the chairman of the occasion, Senibo Sunny Pollyn lauded the school management for making sports paramount in their school.

Pollyn noted that the time has gone when parents lost interest in sports activities, saying that sports is easy investment to young generation.

The chairman appealed to parents to support their children to find talents of their choice. He urged pupils to embrace sports in area of their specializations to enable them do well. Adding that the essence of interhouse sports in school is to enable us locate the hidden talents in our respective schools, that will represent us at the local, state, national and worldwide.

In his speech, the Bonny LGA Zonal Director of Education, Elder Sunny Jumbo thanked the school proprietor and the school management for making sports imperative to the pupils.

Jumbo pointed out that the government has made it as a duty to every school to see sports as one of the important subjects as added in the school curriculum by government.

The Education boss in Bonny area frowned at some parents who did not see sports as an important subject to their children. He charged parents to always give supports to their children in sports activities.

In his remarks, the school Director, Rev. Cyril Pollyn on behalf of management and staff of Ibi-Tamuno of Group of Schools thanked all invited guests for honouring the invitation.

Pollyn recalled that the school came into existence ten years ago, that this was the 2nd edition of the school interhouse.

Pollyn assured parents and guardians that his expectation is to make every scholar from Ibi-Tamuno school proud in all academic scheme.

He urged parents to always show concern to interhouse sports because it is also inclusive in school curriculum, as directed by the government.

Pollyn noted that the school has produced a good number of athletes, talents on sports since its inception. Saying that they have over 37 workforce of academic and non academic staff.

At the end, presentation of certificates and trophy to the winning houses. Dominion house emerged 1st position, Alhaji House 2nd position and Carina house 3rd position, while Bethel House lost out.   ###
