I Will Be Sworn-In May 29 – Wike

wikeGovernor-elect of Rivers State, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has declared that in spite of the seeming uncertainties surrounding his inauguration, he would be sworn in as Governor of the state on May 29 in line with the constitution.

Expressing this conviction while addressing the seventh Synod of the Church of Nigeria, Diocese of Niger Delta North in Port Harcourt Sunday, Wike also assured people of the state that he would not betray the confidence they reposed on him as their duly elected leader.

According to him, “I will not betray the trust of the people of Rivers State. I will serve the state and her people with the fear of God.

“Out of the present ashes of despair and hopelessness, we shall recreate a new Rivers State for the good of all that live in it.”

Wike expressed optimism that his administration would improve on the governance structure in the state, develop necessary infrastructure and improve the living condition of the people.

The Governor-elect told the Anglican Synod that the incoming administration would make judicious use of the resources of the state and avoid the pitfalls of the out-going administration.

“We will make strategic investments to grow our economy. We will support hardworking Rivers people to own businesses. I believe that the new administration under my watch will fulfil its purpose,” he said.

While calling on the church to always pray for the success of the forthcoming administration, Wike appealed to them to offer strategic constructive criticism to always guide the

government.

Archbishop of the Anglican Diocese of Niger Delta North, Most Rev. Ignatius Kattey, while speaking, counseled the soon-to-be governor to work towards fulfilling his campaign promises to the people.
