Let us Give Wike A Chance

nyesom-wike-3It is necessary to applaud any man that does good things, especially at this time when people find it difficult to appreciate better things. Applause encourages men to do more or accomplish greater task.

Inspite of the sick nature of Rivers State, when Chief (Barr.) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike assumes office on the 29th May, 2015, his maiden speech gave hope to Rivers people.

He used the constitutional powers conferred on him to reinstate some sacked lecturers from the State owned University of Science and Technology. Those lecturers were fighting for the rights, when the erstwhile governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi kicked them out of classroom. It was very pathetic, at this time of economic recess.

The State High Court has been closed for over nine (9) months. And the State House of Assembly was not also spared. The very important two (2) organs of government that strengthen democracy were paralysed. Thank God for the new Governor, who without wasting time, opened the court and Assembly Complex. The Governor has now declared war on potholes on our roads.

Wike took over power at a time when the State government cannot pay salaries and execute laudable projects. Beside that the State treasury is emptied and carry so much burden such as high debt profile.

One big question that people are asking: who will complete the white elephant Monorail project? I think Wike will not use the fund to develop every part of the State to complete a Monorail Project that does not have any economic value. The Monorail project will not contribute anything to the State’s purse. It is a wasteful project.

I will plead with Rivers people to give Nyesom Wike a chance to develop the State. Because he has the right credentials to do so. In the past few days, we have seen his score card is opened. Wike’s emergence as the governor of the State was an act of God Almighty, when Rivers people are searching for a true leader that will take them to their desired destination. Let us give Wike a chance.
