Civic Centre Needs RSG Attention

The state of Rivers State social facility, the Civic centre is in a laughable state and needs Rivers State government serious and immediate attention.

The social facility of Rivers State pride, built by the then first Military Governor of Rivers State, King Alfred Diette Spiff is in a serious state of mockery as it complex has been put in to mockery by the Rivers State sports council, and Stadia Authority, a visit to the complex only reveals dirty, shabby, unkept looking complex of old.

More worrisome is the fact that social activities hosted in the facility has caused much damage than uplifting the complex.

For instance, the Handball court of that facility is characterized with holes based on the canopies, it has accommodated over the years.

Dirtiness is the order of the day to that complex. From the multi-purpose hall to the least hall one could think of is it has served it usefulness, and needs to be renovated to give a face lift to that edifice.

For Sharks stadium, the football pitch is the only tangible part known to the public, most especially those who do have that part of the edifice as their footballing activities, nothing more nothing less.

The lives of sports journalists are in danger, covering sports activities in Sharks stadium, if they must use their press gallery, as the press gallery is in unrepaired state as of the time of filing in this report.

Sports journalists, based on this are more careful never to go near that particular part of the stadium.

The Rivers State government should as a matter of fact do something to give a facelift to that edifice, particular, the weight light Hall, Lawn Tennis court, Baskeball Court, swimming pool, Sharks stadium press gallery.

In short, total overhaul is what Civic Centre needs to be reckons as the once famous social edifice of the Niger Delta, built by the first Military governor of Old Rivers State, King Alfred Diette Spiff of Twon, Brass. ###
