Rivers: 7,000 Civil Servants To Go

wwwwikInvestigations had revealed that no fewer than seven thousand (7,000) civil servants in Rivers State, who gained employment into the state civil service between year 1980/81 will be retired this December.
Most Civil servants who fall within the bracket of the retirement age now falsifying their official records, so as to continue to be in service beyond December 2015 several official files are now missing in the various ministries or parastatals.
However, knowledgeable sources hinted this weekly that the relevant authorities have put all necessary measures in place to fish out those civil servants who have attained a retiring age that want to temper with their official files.
The December mass retirement in the state civil service will create employment opportunities to young graduates. Highly placed politicians have started collecting application letters from relatives and wards.
Information disclosed that the ministries of health and education are the main affected sectors in the upcoming mass retirement exercise in the state civil service.
A renowned public administrator, Elder James Yaro who spoke with our correspondent said that the best thing that can happen to Rivers State under the leadership of Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike is to create jobs by retiring those who have been in civil service for thirty-five (35) years.
He observed that civil servants who are falsifying their age and their years in service are wicked and do not have the interest of the state at heart.
The renowned public administrator called on the Rivers State House of Assembly and the concerned authorities to enact legislation that will effectively tackle any civil servant engages in falsification of age and other relevant documents, adding that “Such person should be punished or jailed. ###
