What does it mean to be a woman? Is womanhood defined by our breast and butt upon which the society is so fixated? Womanhood needs to be redefined by the society, if we do not redefined womanhood, the value we place on ourselves as women will be completely eroded by the younger generation.
If women must take their place properly in the society, the society must see women beyond the physical look of a woman.
A female musician precisely a Rivers State woman from the riverine sang a song “I am so happy God make me a woman”. It was not for the fun of it that she sang that song but in reality of thing, seeing that the creation of God would not have been complete without a woman in existence.
Womanhood is a great treasure to the human existence. Womanhood is a treasure most precious to behold, a pearl of great price and the heart of every nation.
A state highly esteem and respected which is dignity, that was the state that God places woman and that is how the society is suppose to place a woman, not as a property or thing that is lesser in value.
Sustaining the dignity of womanhood, I defined it as a mean of upholding the high esteem and respect for a womanhood to bring out her tropical qualities for the society to feel her impact and potentials.
The former secretary of US, Ban Ki Moon quote, “When you empower a woman, you empower the nation, community and families”. This is true because the women are emotional, ideological and inquisitive; they are wonderfully and perfectly made by God. Imagine, somebody that wakes up by 4.00am and sleep by 11.00pm or 12.00am, such is a wonderful creature that need to be honoured.
The woman is the beauty of God’s creation. The beauty of the building is in the finishing. Woman is the finished product of God.
As a woman, you are a crown of the beauty of creation which is how you have to carry yourself. You are created for dignity, honour and beauty. You are to show forth the praises of God and the glory of the man God will eventually link you up with. You are special specie of being, not an afterthought.
It surprises me how women are being used anyhow and some women take pride to be used that way. If a man and a woman are doing an advert, the man will be well dressed, while the woman will dress half naked. The woman is being used as a sex object. Today, women are being used and abused sexually in several ways.
What is happening today among women is not God’s original intention for the creation of women. Women are designed to be admired and love. Women hold the comfort of creation, why then will you turn yourself into what any man can just toy with.
Some woman did not know their worth, that why they sell themselves so cheaply, throw themselves at men who in turn treat them with disregard and mess them up finally.
As earlier stated that God’s original intention for creating a woman was not for public show but for comfort, companionship, beauty of a well dressed woman that can attract a king just as Queen Esther did in the Bible.
I think, the beauty pageant that makes Queen Esther a queen was not that of nude pageant as Nigerian are doing today but dignity, beauty, honour, admiration and what have you.
A look at some of the adverts of products on the television or billboards, you see a lady half naked holding the products or dancing almost naked. One then begins to wonder whether it is the lady that is being advert or the product. And the lady is proud that she is being appreciated or celebrated not knowing she is being used to achieve the goals of such organization for peanuts.
It is time we sustain the dignity of womanhood. The same brain God gave to man is the same brain God gave to women that why you see women excelling with first class honors. We have women professors, commissioners, ministers, chartered Accountants etc.
In most cases, women have proven to be the best in their chosen field of endeavour. You are not an afterthought of God.
You were created for a purpose to make life more meaningful for the men. Celebrate your gender because you are unique. You were made to add flavour to the lives of men especially the man God has ordained for you. You are not to be a burden, parasite, a concern and liability but an asset anywhere you find yourself. You were created to fulfill a particular purpose in life as an individual.
Never wish to be another person, be yourself, don’t be a photocopy, be an original, be unique, you are special, there is no two you.
Life cannot be full and enjoyable without you contributing your own quota. That is why you must price yourself highly; let people see you as a woman of inestimable value, a woman that maintains her dignity. ###
