Onyeario Assures Effective Policing In Bonny

With the recent posting and changing of senior police officers in Rivers State of Nigeria, the new Bonny Divisional Police Officer, (DPO) CSP Matthew Adu Onyeario, last Thursday, had a chat with our reporter in his office at Bonny in the Bonny local government area of Rivers state.
The DPO charged officers and men in his command to be law abiding in discharging their respective duties in the area.
CSP Onyeario urged all to see the police as friends so as to achieve the aims and objective of the society in Bonny Island.
He noted that everybody in the society should be security conscious at all times, for the best interest of the LGA.
The DPO pointed out that some unclaimed exhibits will be put on auction to members of the public, as letter to that effect has been communicated to the police headquarters for necessary action.
The police boss lauded the inhabitants of Bonny for peace keeping in the area. He confirmed that Bonny is the most peaceful community in Rivers state.
He disclosed that his good work relationship with the local council boss, Hon. Barr. Edward E. Pepple and the tradition institution.
The DPO commended the Bonny Council of Chiefs for good conduct of citizenship in Bonny Island, saying that if other LGAs and communities will emulate Bonny, Rivers state will be the best in Nigeria.
He told this publication that his division will soon reconstitute the Police Community Relation Committee (PCRC) for more effective policing in the area.
He however appealed to members of the public to contribute in combating crimes, saying that his command will not condone anybody or group of persons found guilty of criminal conduct, both officers and men of the police.
The DPO stated that bail is free and that prompt charging of cases to court is basic. ###
