Nigeria Will Not Crash If….

The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, Rivers State Council (TUC) said they are hopeful that Nigeria will not crash if fuel subsidy is not removed.
Nigeria they said may crash “if the government continues to take the people for granted by not adequately addressing the issues of corruption, poverty, insecurity and unemployment in the country”.
The state council expressed disappointment over the statement credited to President Goodluck Jonathan that Nigeria will crash if fuel subsidy is not removed.
The State Chairman, Comrade Chika Onuegbu, speaking on behalf of the state council, said they would want to believe that the president was quoted out of context as it would have been seen as a betrayal of trust if indeed the president made such statement, that Nigeria voted for him based on his campaign slogan of hope.
They are appealing that the attention of the Nigeria Public should not be diverted with the debate on the removal of oil subsidy, rather the president should be concerned of the masses plight.
“President Jonathan should consider and take up the issues on how to reduce the level of corruption, poverty, insecurity and unemployment in Nigeria.
“The union is therefore appealing to government at all levels in the country to take very seriously the interest, welfare and security of the citizens”.
