Justice Kate Abiri Lauds Jusun On Mutual Co-operation

The chief judge of Bayelsa State, Justice Kate Abiri has commended the state chapter of Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN, and the national body on mutual co-operation. Justice Abiri made the assertion during her inaugural address at the opening ceremony of seminar on capacity building with JUSUN leadership which was held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State recently.
The revered chief Judge noted that JUSUN is the nerve centre of the judiciary and tasked the union to be always law abiding and also exhibit great administrative acumen.
She equally stressed that as a trade union it should be poised with capacity building.
“We need to train our staff in compliance with global trend”, she stated, noting that training and retraining of staff would be priority of her administration, appealing to Jusun to be computer compliant.
Abiri also stressed that staff welfare would be adhered to greatly and appealed to the staff to reciprocate the kind gesture of her administration.
Justice Abiri tasked Jusun to be financially independent, commending them for Jusun co-operative society which had helped several members. She thanked the executive governor of Bayelsa State chief Timipre Sylva for the various projects embarked upon by the judiciary especially the judiciary complex which is one of the best in Nigeria, the judiciary staff quarters, among other viable projects.
The national president of Jusun, comrade Usamatu Badawi Amin, thanked Justice Abiri for hosting the unique seminar which was the first of its kind in formation of Jusun in Nigeria.
He stated that the seminar was principally to improve on existing knowledge for greater productivity.
The national president while interacting with newsmen enumerated several achievements of his administration in the past two years, especially reducing corruption to the barest minimum, reconciliation of several unions nationwide among others.
Also, comrade Victor P.G Ekpela (JP), the state chairman of Jusun thanked justice Kate Abiri for her cordial working relationship leading to payment of CONJUSS, renovation of the staff bus, fencing of the Junior staff quarters, provision of 15 sitter bus to the union, increased salaries of staff, staff promotion and rewards on regular basis.
Several resources persons presented papers such as understanding labour law of Nigeria, origin and enforcement, how effective, by Francis Oruke Powei of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity Yenagoa, and among others.
