Tonye Orabere Adjudged The Best Sports Reporter 2011

Tonye Orabere of the Nigerian Tide has been adjudged the Best Sports Reporter of the year 2011, by the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) at the 2010/2011 NUJ Rivers State Council Award Night on Thursday, February 9, 2012.
The sports journalist who had been on ground with the Nigerian Tide Newspaper, reporting sports with excellent vigour, was adjudged the best sports reporter of the year 2011, because of his concurrent style of reporting.
As a case in point, he has not let go of any activity of Shark’s football club of Port Harcourt. This earned him the nickname “Sharks journalist”.
Apart from being a sports reporter he had never failed to report sports in totality, like some sports reporters in the media who report sports selectively. Some report more of soccer than any other sports, some do not even report some sports, that is why Tonye Orabere becomes an exceptional sports reporter, as he dives into reporting sports in totality.
Virtually any sports festival that had been organized in his time, he has always kept a close mark on them all, reporting each bit of the action in his paper, the Nigerian Tide, owned by the Rivers State government.
There was a time he reported a negative attitude of the state government in sports which nearly claimed his position as reporter with Tide. ###
