Okrika Local Government Council Advocates Proactive Student Body

The Okrika Local Government Council has advocated for a proactive mechanism to be used by the National Union of Rivers State Students (NURSS) to contribute to the development of society.
The Chairman of Okrika Local Government Council, Barr. Tamuno Williams made this advocacy while addressing the National Executive members of the union in his office.
Tamuno Williams stated that development require a lot of sacrifice as the political class must be prepared to change society in all its ramifications.
Chairman Walga noted that, it is the desire of Council to create a sense of nationalism and oneness in Okrika Students whenever they are.
He assured that, bursary to Okrika Students, including those in Ogu/Bolo and Port Harcourt will be paid all through his tenure as Chairman of Council.
Walga Chairman assured that the Council will ensure that the bus promised the Wakirike Student Union shall be redeemed in no time and urged them to be patient.
Tamuno Williams appealed to the students to strive for high level success in all their endeavours as their contributions will help transcend the aspirations and hopes of the people.
Walga Boss urged the Union to rise above board in their activities in order to defeat the anarchy of staff unionism in the Universities today.
He used the occasion to inform the union that the Council will sponsor 36 Okrika Youths to the Rivers State Government sponsored empowerment scheme that will take place at the Rivers State Polytechnic, Bori as this will help create further employment for the teeming unemployed youths in the area.
Earlier, the Acting National President of (NURSS), Victor Oko Jumbo highlighted some of the achievements of the Chairman of Okrika Local Government Council, Barr. Tamuno Williams in the area of empowerment, especially bursary payment, provision of ICT Skill acquisition programme for Post UTME Candidates, organizing Summer Classes for Okrika Students, Road Construction and more recently the construction of Kalio-Ama Road which is a masterpiece.
Victor Jumbo stated that the giant strides of Barr. Tamuno Williams cannot be equaled by any body as he has demonstrated within one year in office as a leader that understands the matrix of development and transformation.
