Bolo Community In Total Blackout

Some youths in Bolo Community in Ogu/Bolo Local Government of Rivers State have expressed regret to the council chairman Hon. (Mrs.) Maureen Tamuno for keeping the community in total blackout for more than forty days which crippled economic activities in the area.
Speaking with our correspondent but under conditions of anonymity the youths said the council boss since connecting the community to the National grid has never initiated developmental projects or embarked on any youth empowerment programme as part of addressing the needs of the people but keeps running the affairs of the council like a family business preferring to rely on youths of the sister LGA for support towards her House of Representative ambition come 2015. They concluded by saying that her administrative style can be described as one running more than his/her shadow.
The statement also frowned at her lack of attention to the people of the community and the needy and appealed to the governor to call her to order so that she can emulate the administrative style of His Excellency Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, the Executive Governor of the state rather than westernizing the Ogu/Bolo council leadership where people have no room to see and discuss one-one-one with council chairman.
In the briefing, the youths further appealed to the council boss to consider electricity supply as it is paramount as boosting the local economy of the people than any other focus on empowerment.
According to the youths and people of the community several calls have been made to the executive chairman concerning the current state of power supply in the council but no respond has been made so far as at the time of filing this report.
In a related development, councillors representing the twelve wards in the LGA have been charged to live up to their legislative duties to achieve the desired dynamism and functionality in that arm of the administrative strata so that they can checkmate the excesses of the executive arm in the council. This the report says can be attained by passing objective bills on issues confronting the socio-political and economic needs of the people as a means of fulfilling their electioneering promises for greater political achievements and not see their legislation as a lame duck.
It will be recalled that the local assembly is a determinant factor in achieving fair distribution of power, wealth and implementing the principles of democracy dividends at the grassroots. ###
