DEGEMA: Hon. Pokima Commends RSHA … Commissions Marriage Registry

The executive chairman of Degema local government area, Hon. Ibigoni Daddy Pokima, has commended the Rivers State House of Assembly on the Periodic/Performance Evaluation of local government councils in the state.
Hon. Pokima, who stated this on Thursday 13th September, 2012 when members of the Rivers State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government visited the area, opined that the move is a strategy geared towards engendering rapid and sustainable grassroots development which in effect will restore sanity in the polity, while describing it as a bold initiative.
Hon. Pokima, stated that, ten months into office his administration has not lost sight of their strong resolve to formulate and implement policies and programmes that would impact positively on the citizenry in compliance with statute laws, stating that, the development agenda of his administration is on course.
The Council Boss chronicled some of the achievements of his administration in the last ten months as the purchase of outboard engine boats to ease the difficulty faced by commuters, especially women and students; provision of Exercise Books for schools; the construction of a Marriage Registry Building; the on-going construction of a standard sporting complex; electrification of Oguruama, Bakana, Amankporo and Fouche communities to the national grid amongst others.
Earlier the chairman of the Rivers State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government, Hon. Lucky Odili stated that the committee was in the area to evaluate the performance/compliance level of the council.
He thanked the chairman for making their assignment easy by providing all the relevant documents, while urging him to maintain the synergy between the executive and legislature in the area.
Highpoint of the event was the commissioning of the Marriage Registry by Hon. Lucky Odili.
