COWA Born In Port Harcourt
The Customs Officers Wives Association (COWA) was last Thursday, the 18th of October, 2012 inaugurated in Port Harcourt, exactly three years of the body’s existence in Nigeria.
Addressing the gathering, the National President of COWA, Hajiya Sa’Adiya Inde Dikko said within the three year of COWA’s existence, the body has achieved several feats, such as, inauguration of four zonal commands, 25 chapters and graduation of 150 members on various skills. Other achievements she said include granting of soft loans to members, organizing of seminars to sensitive women on their position as support to their husbands, amongst others.
She appealed to public spirited individuals to donate to the noble cause, as any fund so provided will be judiciously utilized.
In her speech, the zonal coordinator COWA zone C, Mrs. Esther Agbaje said the organization has been able to turn their members from being active dependants to active partners, which in turn has promoted peace and progress in their families.
She described the event as the beginning of a new era in the lives of women married to officers and men of the Nigerian Customs service, Port Harcourt Area 1.
Mrs. Agbaje extolled the virtues of their National President whom she said has rebranded the corporate image of Customs women.
She enjoined all the members of COWA to embrace the gospel of the organization and by so doing impact on their husbands and society alike.
Also in her remarks, the chairperson of COWA, Port Harcourt Area 1, Mrs. Sara Dan Garba said since the Nigerian Customs Service plays important role in economic development of Nigeria, it behoves on COWA to complement that role.
Earlier in his address, the chairman of the occasion, Dr. Cletus Ibeto had congratulated members of COWA for organizing themselves properly.
He urged them to continue in their supportive role to their husbands the Nigeria Customs Officers, which he said has in no small measure improved economic development of the country. ###
