Siasia Tipped For U-23 Team Coaching Job

Former coach of the Super Eagles, Samson Siasia maybe on his way to secure the under 23 Nigeria national football team coaching job. This is coming on the heels of failed attempts to secure a substantive coach for the intermediate soccer side of the nation after the exit of coach Austin Eguaveon.

Siasia who has been  without a job since he was sacked by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for failing to qualify the Eagles for the Nations cup, has been shuttling United States of America and Nigeria. Though the highly favoured coach has been approached by India and Kenya to coach their national teams which offer he declined. He has been tipped by the Nigeria Football Federation to take up the national U-23 football men team to the forth coming Olympics.

Siasia has not been formally called upon for the job, but sources close to the coach said they have been briefed on the plans.

Soccer pundits are of the opinion that Samson Siasia is the right candidate to handle the U-23 men football team having been there once.

Others are of the opinion that the former Super Eagles coach was simply unlucky not to have qualified the Super Eagles for Gabon/Equatorial guinea Nations cup, believing that he is still one of Nigeria’s best coaches around.

Meanwhile, Siasia has commended Coach Stephen Keshi, on his recent feat saying that he was lucky that his players played to instruction that enabled them win the 29th edition of the Africa Nations cup in South Africa. ###
