Enlighten The People On Impending Heavy Downpour, NOA Told

The State Director, National Orientation Agency, Mr. Oliver Wolugbom has charged the Chief Orientation and Mobilization Officers (COMOs) of the 23 Local Government Areas to educate and enlighten the people on the impending heavy downpour that would be experienced this year 2013.

Mr. Wolugbom made this charge recently during the monthly general meeting of National Orientation Agency (NOA).

The NOA boss charged the COMOs to inform and educate the people of Rivers State, that the rains this year will be heavier than that of last year and that it will come with heavy wind and thunder storm, urging the people to desist from dumping waste into the gutters, avoid building on waterways, keep their environments clean and trim the branches of big tress around. He further stated that if the outcome of the whether condition is a natural one, there is nothing much anyone can do; but that if it is manmade, then we should avoid those humanly actions that will endanger our environment.

Mr. Wolugbom equally commended the Rivers State government for their effort in opening up the drainage, discouraging people from building on waterways and the evacuation of blocked gutters. These are some of the measures to address the problems, he said. ###
