Rivers State Deputy Governor, Engr. Tele Ikuru, said people should use their time on earth to impact on lives of those around them positively.
Engr. Ikuru said this during the funeral service of late Daa Tity Ibani, mother of Hon. Ikuinyi-Owaji Ibani member representing Andoni Local Government Area in the State House of Assembly, at Ataba in Andoni LGA.
The Deputy Governor said the deceased during her lifetime touched the lives of people positively.
He noted that the late matriarch of the Ibani family of Ataba raised good children including the Chief Whip of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Ibani, amongst others.
“Mama lived a fulfilled life during her 81 years sojourn on earth.
Within this time, she did quite a lot to people.
She raised many good children including the Chief Whip of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Ibani.”
Engr. Ikuru noted that “we are here to be part and parcel of her departure to glory.
We condole with the family and pray the Almighty God to grant her soul eternal rest”.
Responding, Hon. Ikuinyi-Owaji Ibani, described his mother as a role model to her children who gave her all to ensure their wholesome upbringing.
Hon. Ibani said that “she stood as a defence to make sure that I live to see tomorrow and that tomorrow is today”.
In his sermon, the Guest Preacher, Venerable Gladden Uko, admonished the congregation to fear and honour God in their dealings.
He urged wealthy members of the society to use their wealth to promote the work of God.
Dignitaries at the occasion include the Leader of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Chidi Lloyd, and his colleagues, Hon Felicia Barizasi Tane, Innocent Barikor, Chigbor Eligwe, Victoria Nyeche, Legborsi Nwidadah, Ben Horsfall, Andrew Miller and Fred Anabraba.
The Chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area Mr. Theodore Georgewill has congratulated the executive Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for his re-election as the chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum.
Mr. Georgewill gave the congratulatory message during a chat with journalists in his office in Abonnema the Local Government Headquarters.
He stated that the victory of Governor Amaechi is a victory for democracy in Nigeria.
The Chairman added that the people of the Akuku-Toru are solidly in support of Governor Amaechi’s administration.
He advised Rivers people to continue to support the Governor in his developmental strides.
Mr. Georgwill called on all to disregard the unpleasant comments and actions aimed at desterilizing the State and remain calm and peaceful.
