ASALGA: KUF Disrupts PDP’s Meetings

…Destroys Properties

…10 Wounded

There was pandemonium in Buguma, headquarters of Asari-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State as a socio-political group known as Kengema Unity Forum (KUF) disrupted meetings of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held in the various of the LGA.

Our correspondent reported that some armed members of the KUF stormed the meeting venues in the various wards and disrupted the proceeding of the meetings. During the attack by the members of the KUF canopies, chairs, tables and other valuables at the venues of the meeting were destroyed.

The hoodlums who stormed the meeting venues robbed some members of PDP their valuables such as gold studs, and money. The attackers according to our reporter were led by one Barr. Tubotamuno Dick and other unidentified persons. They were chanting war songs: “We ego gree o, we ego gree KUF we ego gree”, “No KUF, No PDP,” amongst others. During the violent attack no fewer than 10 persons were wounded.

KUF is a socio-political group under the leadership of a repented militant, Sobomabo Jackrich, alias Egberipapa. The group is advocating for a Governor from Kalabari extraction come 2015. Though the matter has been reported to the police in Buguma, but no arrest has been made as at the time of filing in this report.

When Barr. Dick was contacted through a mobile cell phone; he cited lack of adequate information and consultations as major reasons for the disruption of the meetings.

He alleged that the various Ward meetings were convened without inviting some of the major stakeholders of the PDP in the LGA. According to him, Egberipapa whom he described as the leader of the party in the Kalabari kingdom was not adequately informed of the said meetings.

Barr. Dick claimed that there are some unresolved issues in the Asalga PDP, stating that such issues need to be amicably resolved before PDP meeting could be convened in the area.

“I see no reason why PDP meeting would be convened without informing all the stakeholders of the party especially the leader of the party, in the area, Ambassador Soboma Jackrich, alias Egberipapa.

“We are not regretting what has happened. I think they have reported the matter to the police, let them come and arrest us”, Barr. Dick concluded.  ###
