Chief Abomaye, Eyide, Others Harp On Child Up-bringing

Chief Eniatorudabo Abomaye Engr. Erick Eyide and Chief Promise Sidney said the moral upbringing of children is critical to development of the society.

The trio made the observation in their separate interviews with journalists shortly after the 29th Annual inter- House sports competition penultimate week at the Federal Government Girls College, Port Harcourt.

On his part, one of the special guests Chief Promise Sidney (JP), Secretary Abuloma Council of Chiefs stated that despite his crowded schedule he came to grace the inter-house sports competition because of its importance.

Chief Sidney said with the quality of sports roll- out by the children he is sure that the country has future leaders. He advised the parents to give the children the right tract and providing some sports facilities for the children even at their homes.

Also speaking, the chairman of the event Chief Eniatorudobo Abomaye Harrison of Abuloma Community maintained that the children had done well especially the sack race while advising the parents to encourage their children by donating sporting facilities to the school.

The chairman pointed out that the high-jump stand as among other facilities that needed to be changed. He told Journalists that the children sports actually reduced stress and hypertension.

On motivation of the children to be super sports men and women Chief Abomaye said gifts for the children should be a higher quality for better encouragement, saying that most of the gifts for the children are not motivating. In another development, Engr. Eric Eyide submitted that the essence of a complete education is when the three domains in education are measured. The three domains are the cognitive, the effective and the psychomotor. He said the psychomotor fall within the various sports activities for our children while the cognitive fall within the class work and excise.

He said the effective factor becomes a little difficult because it involves the hiding curriculum .Engr. Eyide further explained that the moral part is the most important part of developing a child.

The special guest of honor submitted that any child that is not discipline in a moral way cannot be educationally balanced, and neither will the child be physically balanced while advocating that the moral up-bringing should be the leading factor of the education of our children.

Earlier, the Head Teacher, Staff School FGGC, Abuloma, Mr.lO.A Eriwona in his address said sports is now  big business, gone are the days when sports were just done for entertainement “Today sports and games have gone professional and lots of people earn their living through the various sports because of it physical and mental alertness.

He said the children should be catch at the tender age so that they can develop their specialize areas in time. He pointed out that the young ones among them will represent us in the country. They Head teacher said the children are doing well.

On the provision of sporting facilities, the head teacher said with time they will ask for support from the parents.

The overall winner goes to the “Green House “the “Pink House” took the second position while the third place goes to “Yellow House “. Highlight of the event was the Academic staff race men and women and the Shuttle race.
