2015: Asari-Dokubo Dumps Ogoni Governor, Meets Wike

ASARI-DOKUBOThe leader of the defunct Niger Delta Peoples Vigilantee Force (NDPVF), Alhaji Mujahid Asari-Dokubo has secretly held a crucial meeting with the Minister of State for Education, Chief Barr. Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike. The agenda of the meeting according to what we are reliably gathered was centered on “who becomes the next governor of Rivers State’.

Though the outcome of the said meeting was not known as at the time of filing in this report, but sources informed this weekly that the Niger Delta ex-militant leader has resolved to work with Chief Wike in 2015.

One of the close aides to Asari-Dokubo told this weekly that, he (Asari) has informed all his supporters to identify with the gubernatorial ambition of Chief Nyesom Wike.

If Alhaji Asari-Dokubo had resolved to work with Chief Wike, it means he has made a U-turn in his earlier campaign for a governor from Ogoni extraction.

Few months ago, the Kalabari born ex-agitator was fronting the Ogonis to produce the next governor of Rivers State come 2015. Before this time, according to Asari-Dokubo, it is the turn of the Rivers South-East Senatorial District. Asari-Dokubo was also telling his kinsmen the Kalabaris to forget the Brick House in 2015.

As Asari-Dokubo pulled out of the Ogonis’ support circle, it becomes another setback for emergence of an Ogoni governor in 2015.

Though the Ogonis still believe that they have all what it takes to produce the Governor of Rivers State in 2015, but with the current political equation, arrangements, alignment and realignment, the Ogonis may be moved out of the track. ###
