Vigilante Group takes Stock

FLOWING PIC - VIGILANTEEThe Rivers State Command of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN has vowed to continue relentlessly in its quest to protect lives and property in all nooks and crannies of the 23 LGAs in the State.

The State Commandant, Mr. Mambo Wilcox who made this known while briefing news men in Port Harcourt, on some of their recent achievements in combating crimes in the state, commended men and officers of VGN for their doggedness in fighting crime with their bare hands, without the needed tools to combat crimes or even gratification of any kind, to cater for themselves and family.

Wilcox pointed out that his men in Gokana District Command of Gokana LGA, Rivers State, have in the last few months recorded a huge success in the apprehension of oil bunkers, cultists and criminals among others in the area and subsequently handed them over to the Nigeria Police for necessary actions.

The State Commandant stressed that his men in Gokana District Command, under Commander Bekee Robinson, who were on patrol about 8:31pm in Kpor Community, recovered a motorcycle loaded with Jerry-cans, used for transporting illegally refined crude, that was abandoned by the owner on spotting men of the VGN on the 10th of June 2014 and handed it over to the police at Kpor Division, Gokana LGA.

Wilcox future disclosed that members of VGN who were beaten by a group of cultists in B-Dere Community, Gokana LGA on the 21st of May 2014, later apprehended one Mr. Barinaada Gberegiri, who is allegedly member of the cult gang and handed him over to the police SARS in Bori.

However, Mr. Berebon B. Bariture of K-Dere Community was caught alongside Mr. Barida of Tene-O Village, both in Bodo City of Gokana LGA, having homosexual intercourse about 12:45 am. In the course of interrogating by men of VGN on patrol, Mr. Barida confessed to have bargained to pay his man friend the sum of N10,000 and after which, he was handed over to the Police Division in Gokana.

Wilcox also stated that the District Commander of Gokana and his men apprehended one Teage, who dressed in Community Primary School, Kpor uniform while he is from Mogho, a distance from Mogho Primary School one, where he came with a knife and 4 pencils to steal from the school, which incident was reported to the head teacher and formally handed over to the police at Kpor, on the 1st of April 2014.

The State Commandant, who commended the youths of B-Dere for their collaboration with VGN in that command, in the apprehension of some gang of armed cultists who were rubbing cyclists and passengers of their hard earned money along Kira-Dere Road on the 21st and 22nd of May 2014, were apprehended.

The cultists which include: Joseph Naadubon, Barisitom Naawee and Baritor Vincent were caught and handed over to the police at Kpor Police Station, while others at large took to their heels. In the same vein, one Mr. Boy who claimed to be called Chief Ada, alias “Fifty Cent”, an alleged cultist from K-Dere Community in Gokana LGA, was caught in the bush for stealing a motorcycle, belonging to one Mr. Bomu man and was subsequently handed over to the police.

In the press briefing, Wilcox added: “on the 27th of day of June around 3:am at Apostolic Church Mission, Bodo Field Convention Ground, one Mr. Monbel Gospel Koo of Bodo City in Gokana LGA was caught by men of the VGN on patrol, while stealing a Network Receiver from the Airtel Mast. He has successfully thrown down the Receiver when luck ran against him, as he was forced to climb down the mast by my men on patrol and has equally been handed over to the police at Kpor Divisional Headquarters in Gokana.

“On the 31st day of May 2014, information got to Ward 5 and 6 of VGN in K-Dere on a stolen Boat and an 85 horsepower engine. My men from the two wards went for a search and subsequently, discovered the items in one Gbarazege Creek in K-Dere Fishing Creek and those items have been handed over to the police for necessary actions”, he added.
