Bonny Boat Mishap: Victims Families’ Attack Ibanise Boat

Barely eighty-three (83) days a ago our news desk has been receiving several complaints from members of the public over the boat mishap in Bonny sea by Ibanise boats; which over 23 commuters lost their lives.

Recently, some bereaved families came to our office saying that since the death of their loved ones, the management of the said Ibanise boat had not paid them a condolence visit nor assisted during the burial of the victims.

The complainant said that they came from Finima and Bonny main town, that they have made every effort to reach with the Bonny chief’s council, but could not yield any good result.

One of the spokes persons, a youth corper told this publication that he’s sister and colleague lost her life in that incident, yet up till date they have not received any condolence message from the management of the boat. But the boat has commence an operations.

Mr. Jumbo said that h is sister who died with her 2 children was the bread winner of their family. Yet those concerned has no sympathy to visit the family.

Jumbo called on the authority Ibanise boats to redress the situation.

On Monday 24th November, 2014 this very Ibanise boat got burnt at the Port Harcourt water front as the boat was to sailing to Bonny with passengers. Although no lost of life but properties were all burnt.

According to an eye witnesses told this publication that the boat caught fire as the driver was about starting one of the engines while passengers jumped into the water with the help of boat operator there was no lost of live, but millions of naira worth properties were destroyed due to that fire out break.
