LGA Polls: Kalabari IYC Disagrees With Amaechi

The Kalabari chapter of the Ijaw Youth Council, IYC said that it is not in support of Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi conducting council polls come May 23.

The chairman of IYC Kalabari Se Kpangi, Comrade Prince Sobrasua Odum stated this at a press briefing in Port Harcourt, on Tuesday.

The Kalabari IYC chairman noted that the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) has no constitutional right to conduit the LGA elections, having refused to give statutory ninety (90) days notice to all the registered political parties to prepare.

Prince Odum said that if Amaechi goes on to conduct the polls, it may not augur well with the state, when Chief Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike takes over office in May 29, 2015.

The Bakana Prince advised Amaechi not to do anything that will put the state into crisis when he (Amaechi) leaves the Brick House next month.

“We don’t want problems in Rivers State after May 29. Rivers State needs development and transformation. Amaechi should not throw the state into confusion before leaving office”, Prince Odum asserted.

The Kalabari IYC boss had earlier extolled the leadership qualities of the Governor-Elect, Chief Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike. He described him as peaceful man and political warlord”, who has all what it takes to develop the state in no distant time.

Prince Odum further commended the deputy governor-elect, Dr. Mrs. Ipalibo Banigo for her sincerity expressing optimism that with her, Wike’s administration would be the best in Rivers State.

His words: As IYC chairman, Kalabari clan, I supported Wike’s election with my resources. I don’t collect money from anybody or politician, but for the growth of the state, I delivered my local government area (Delga) to Wike and PDP”.

Prince Odum pleaded with the governor-elect to carry the Kalabari IYC along in the scheme of things, saying that is the one sure way of giving empowerment to the youths. He also enjoined Chief Wike to beware of sycophants, adding that there are so many persons who do not want the growth of the State. ###
