Head coach of Rivers State squash Association, Coach Mike Ofili has vehemently stated that, he is going to clinch gold medal for Rivers State in the forthcoming 19th national sports festival in Cross Rivers State.
Coach Ofili made this bold statement while speaking with The Newswriter sports in police officers mess Old GRA, forces Avenue shortly after his birthday one day squash tournament celebration.
He reveals his reasons of organizing the one day squash tournament, according to him, he is using the one day tournament to welcome the newly posted Commissioner of Police to the state, CP Musa Kimo as well as to celebrate his birthday. He added CP Kimo is a lover of sports in fact, a good long race sprinter.
It was moment of joy seeing friends, associates and colleagues celebrating together one’s birthday.
Coach Ofili further revealed that he has come along way in life, seeing the good and the bad side as life throws it dusts on him, however, he is grateful to God for have taking him this far.
“I have lots of talents to shock my opponents in any competition that will be held or organized in Nigeria for the 19th National Sports Festival, that will be hosted by Cross Rivers State; Rivers State should be reassured that I am fetching the gold medal for the state in squash. There is no negotiation about that”, he maintained
The optimistic coach emphasized that, his players are of age, infact, “I can described them to be world standard, that makes me state boldly that, they are world beaters, any day anytime”.
He promised to organizing tournament on everyday basis if it were to be possible. “I have made up my mind to bringing other states to compete squash in Rivers State to the envy of Lagos and Abuja where it was originally happening before”. ###
