A man has been reportedly feared dead in the river following a boat mishap that occurred last weekend, along Abuloma-Okrika route when the driver (quarter master) of the said speed boat collided with wreck scraps beneath the river.
Speaking to our correspondent, the vice chairman of Okrika Speed Boat Drivers Union, Mr. Isaac Wakama expressed sadness over the incident and recounted their ugly experiences occasioned by wreck scraps beneath the water ways.
Wakama called on government and the inland waterways Agency (Nigeria Maritime Authority) to remove the wreck scraps beneath the waterways to avoid future occurrences.
As at the time of filing this report it is not clear if the body of the victim had been recovered as the deceased family could not make any comment. ###
