Rivers State Honours Yobo With Testimonial Match May 28

Joseph-YoboThe Rivers State Government has proposed hosting former skipper of the Supper Eagles Joseph Yobo in a testimonial match come May 28th, 2016 in Port Harcourt.

Speaking to sports journalists at the Rivers State sports Ministry conference hall, Hon. Boma Iyaye disclosed that the state government has planned to host Joseph Yobo testimonial football match come 28th of May, 2016.

Recalled that Joseph Yobo who is a son of the state was the first Nigeria player to attain 100 caps while serving the national team as its captain.

“It is therefore appropriate to give Yobo the honour he deserved by formerly hosting him to a testimonial football match in his own state.

He also hinted that Yobo started his football career in Port Harcourt, so it is not out of place to honour Joseph Yobo who had made the state proud by serving his father land meritoriously.

“Yobo had become a role model to the younger one today, and youths unborn, so it is a good thing that the Rivers State government honours their son “Joseph Yobo and a sign of appreciation for making the state proud. Yobo is a worthy ambassador for Rivers State and so deserve the state government appreciation”, he said.

The high profile Yobo testimonial football match is one of Governor Wike’s well thoughtout gesture to further attract the international football world wise. ###
