Several individuals and groups and in Rivers State have congratulated the Governor of Rivers State, Sir. Dr. SIMINALAYI FUBARA on his reinstatement by Mr. President, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, on August 18th, following a six-month suspension and the declaration of a State of Emergency in the State.

According to Mrs Fisibam Brown, a women’s association leader who spoke to the Newswriter, “this reinstatement, is a testament to the Federal government’s  commitment to upholding the tenets of democracy and restore the mandate freely given by the people.”

Several Rivers people joined in expressing their gratitude to Mr. President for keeping to his promise of restoring the democratically elected Governor to his rightful office, thereby reinforcing the strength of Nigeria’s democracy and the rule of law. They commended the President’s action as reflecting respect for the people and the principles of justice.

The governor, in response, sent Special appreciation to all who were steadfast in their support and solidarity during the trying period, noting that their peaceful support, resilience and unshaken confidence in their Governor remain an inspiring example of democratic maturity.
