Environment Commissioner Tasks Obio/Akpor Students, On Seriousness

Students of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area extraction have been charged to take their studies serious.
The Rivers State Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Nyema Weli, gave the charge when the executives of the Obio/Akpor Students Union Worldwide paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Port Harcourt.
The State Environmental Sanitation boss advised the students against pursuing self pleasure at the expense of their education, emphasizing that such enjoyment can only be relevant if they are able to afford the cost themselves.
According to him, Obio/Akpor is being urbanized, hence, they need to be equipped to be properly launched in to the society and pledged his support to the society.
Earlier in his address, the National President of the Obio/Akpor Students Union Worldwide, Mr. John Amadi, while commending the Hon. Commissioner for giving them warm reception, acquainted him on the various activities and achievements of the union and solicited for his patronage.
In a related development, the Rivers State Ministry of Environment has expressed dismay over the reckless abandonment of vehicles, wreckages of barges and ships currently littering roads and water ways.
In their separate chats, with journalists in Port Harcourt, Dr. Nyema Weli, the Rivers State Commissioner for Environment and Dr. George Nweke, the permanent Secretary of the Ministry, noted that apart from obstructing the flow of traffic on our roads and waterways, such constitute nuisance and unsanitary sight to the state environment.
They urged owners of abandoned vehicles, wreckages of barge and ships on our water ways and roads to remove them within seven days or face the wrath of government. ###
