The Chairman of Opobo/Nkoro local Government Council, Warisenibo Maclean Bethel Uranta, has called on social organisations in the area to sensitize the people to utilize health facilities and other amenities provided for them by the government. He said that the health facilities and personnel in the area are capable of stabilizing cases before such cases may be referred if the need arise. Warisenibo Uranta made the call in his office in Opobo town when members of Circles Klub of Opobo paid him a courtesy visit.
The Chairman promised to partner with the Circles Klub and other organizations to improve the lot of the people of the area. The council boss who lauded the club for its programmes, especially their planned drainage clean-up campaign exercise in Opobo town, called on them to use the opportunity to sensitize the people on the need to keep their environment clean.
Earlier in his address, the president of the organisation, Mr. Blessing Jaja represented by the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ema Jaja, said the Klub was in the council to intimate him of the planned cleaning exercise in Opobo town. He said that their decision is informed by the warnings from the National Meteorological Agency of the imminent flooding of coastal communities. They called on him to put in place refuse dumps and collectors in the area, establish a fire station and Emergency Rescue Agency in the area to be manned by trained personnel.
In his vote of thanks, the council Secretary, Mr. Sunny J. Pepple, thanked Circles Klub for the visit and unflinching support, saying that the ideas they shared with the council are valuable, assuring that the council will always welcome progressive suggestions.
