UN NGO Observes Peace Day In Rivers

The International Association of World Peace Advocates, an international civil organization for peace development has concluded plans to host and observe the largest United Nations international peace day in Port Harcourt.

The spokesman of the organization who doubled as United Nations Digital Advocates and Messengers of Humanity, Amb. Emmanuel Nkweke disclosed this to journalists shortly after the just concluded United Nations Humanitarian Day held in Imo State.

According to Amb. Emmanuel Nkweke Rivers State is being adjudged as the most appropriate state to host the peace day adding that over one thousand international organizations across the globe will attend the ceremony.

He however, added that the economic importance of Rivers State and the activities of the governor, Chief Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike in the promotion of peace attracted the attention of the global organization pointing out that the peace day celebration will generally engage the participation of four to six thousand persons and organizations under the chairmanship of Prof. Kingsley Koko.

According to him, at the moment international organizations with the United Nations have started making plans to participate in the peace event.

He further stressed that peace is fundamental and the basis of all human activities, adding that the theme for this year celebration is “the sustainable development goal:- building block for peace”.

The international spokesman thanked the wife of the Rivers Sate governor, Mrs. Suzzette Wike for reaching out to Rivers people through her radio messages of peace and encouraged her to sustain her efforts in that regard hence a virtues woman like her would always bring peace to her people.

He disclosed that the event would hold at the Alfred Diete Spiff Civic Centre, Moscow Road, Port Harcourt on the 21st September, 2016 stressing that is a celebration for all and enjoined the public to attend. ###
