The Mangroves Saved Anthony

The stars were out, brightly shinning

The moon smiled at them as they left Kirika-Nkoro

In the midnight as they paddled to Iwama-Nkoro

Across the sea splashes of the waves were heard

Fishes criss-crossing, inviting the fisher men at sea.

The thunder struck, lightening flashed!

Oju dared to cross the sea, the turbulent sea

Papa, “no we can’t cross”, Tony, resounded

They crossed the angry waves, the boat capsized

Oju died, yes he died in the sea

Tony swarm, little Tony swarm

The mangroves embraced, cuddled him

Wiped his falling tears

The mangroves housed him, carried him on her laps!

He went through pains and strains, the anguish and languish

Over his lost father Oju, although he was saved, He was alive,

Tony was celebrated! The mangroves save him

Save the mangroves, rescue the sea creatures in the creeks
