UN POLAC Set For Peace Ambassador Award

Additional 16 nominees have been selected and added to the list of nominees to be honoured by the United Nations Positive Livelihood Award Centre, UN POLAC.
The nominees, now 36 in number, would be given ‘Ambassadors Of Peace 2012’ award by the UN POLAC.
The 16 additional nominees selected out of a total of 500 names submitted for the award are: Bishop Dr. Simon Okah, . Mr. Davis Ojima, Mr. Uche Johnson Nwala, Bishop Dr. Julius Odiwe, Mr. Ayirime Emami, Dr. N. S. Oguzor, Sir. Obele Ngechu, Prof. Barineme Fakae and Prof. Eric. Arubayi.
Others are, Prof. B. C. Igeomah, Dr. Tex Wariboko, Rev. Dr. Cletus Diolu, Mrs. Olaniyi Amaka, Mr. Bema Friday, Mr. Ifeamaraema Christian Duruoma and Apostle Richard Abel Barikni O.
Speaking to newsmen, Comrade Emmanuel Nkweke, Director of Information and Documentation of UN POLAC, said the nominees are qualified and deserving Nigerians who have played their part in contributing to peace in the nation, excelling in their various professions and are worthy to be emulated.
He said the award would be a yearly event and would be witnessed by UN Peace Ambassadors, non-governmental organizations and conflict resolution experts from across the globe.
The event which is slated to hold on September 1, 2012 at the Delta State Government House Annex, would also include other Nigerians who have made their marks in peace and conflict resolutions in their various constituencies.
Comrade Nkweke said the 36 nominees passed through rigorous selection processes and all satisfied the requirements of the United Nations POLAC, regarding peace initiative and conflict resolution, adding that all guests, NGOs and other participants for the great event should contact the office of the Director of Information and Documentation, for details. ###
