Agumagu To Address Challenges Of NBA

JUSTICE PETER AGUMAGUActing Chief Judge of Rivers State , Hon. Justice Peter Agumagu has promised to address the challenges faced by the Nigerian Bar Association within the period he will be in office. Justice Agumagu stated this when Chairmen of Port Harcourt, Bori, Ahoada and Isiokpo executive of the Nigeria Bar Association paid him a courtesy visit at the High Court.

He assured the association that he will retain the cordial relationship that exists between the Bar and the Bench and thanked them for their support. Earlier, the Chairman of Port Harcourt Branch of Nigeria Bar Association Lawrence Oko-Jaja Esq in his remarks congratulated Hon. Justice Agumagu on his appointment, describing it as well deserved and in accordance with the relevant provision of the constitution and State laws.

Mr. Oko-Jaja enumerated the challenges faced by the association to the process of appointment of Judges, lack of digital library for the judiciary, lack of functional lifts and lights at the judiciary premises to ease the burden on mature lawyers among others, and implored the Acting Chief Judge him to use his office to address the challenges. Also speaking, Mr. Grancille Abio (SAN) who spoke on behalf of the body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria stated that posterity will judge Justice Agumagu rightly for his legacies at the Customary Court of Appeal and charged him to sustain the unbridled, complimentary respect and unity of the Bar the Rivers Judiciary enjoys in the country.

Mr. Abio (SAN) prayed God to strengthen the Acting Chief Judge to carry out the task ahead of him. Dignitaries present at the event include the Chief Registrars and Deputy Chief Registrars of the High Court and Customary Court of Appeal amongst others.
