Poor Performance: Timariv Wants Acting Controller-general Sacked

over five hundred officials of the Rivers State Road Traffic And Management Authority, (TIMARIV) have concluded plans to embark on a fresh protest for the non-payment of the five months salaries and demand for the removal of the acting controller general of the authority, Confidence Obinna eke.

The TIMARIV last week shaved the planned protest after securing an order the Rivers State Command of the Nigeria police force to press home their demand because of possible intervention of the state government.

Chief of Staff, govt. house, Chief Tony Okocha was detailed by governor Chibuike Amaechi to wade into the matter for a possible peaceful resolution, but information available on The Newswriter newsdesk posits that Okocha is approaching the matter with a kids clove using ethnic affiliations against the suffering of the officials who were denied payment for about five months running.

TIMARIV Envoy for the welfare of its officials, Prince Amadi who spoke to The Newswriter revealed that the snail speed employed by Okocha in handling the issue is not and would not be acceptable because his men are dying of hunger.

According to Amadi, the officials have ran out of patience occasion by Okocha’s manners and ways in tackling the matter, saying that the officials have resolved to demonstrate a peaceful protest on the major high ways in the state.

Amadi, further disclosed that the problem of the authority was not with the government but, confidence eke who decided to kill staff by withholding their salaries.

The authority, according to Amadi is calling on the government to take over the wage bill as enshrined in the law establishing the authority, Rivers State Traffic Law No. 6 (2009) Part VII Section 57 Sub-section 1a-e.

In accordance with the same law establishing the authority part V Section 40 Sub-Section 1&2, the authority demands for a functional board to oversee its affairs and called for immediate resignation of the acting comptroller general, Confidence Obinna Eke and head of human resources, Mr. Gift Egboh.

Also in a ten point resolution reached by congress of

TIMARIV are the appointment of an ex-military or para-military officer as controller general, nullification of what it called purported TIMARIV hand book since it does not meet the requirement as enshrined in the law.

Another cardinal point reached by TIMARIV congress was the passing of vote of no confidence on the acting Comptroller-General Mr. Eke.

Meanwhile, the officials who are in pains and hunger have cautioned the chief of staff, government house Okocha to avoid favouritism and ethnicity in handling its matters since rivers state belongs to all, alleging that it has been rumoured that Okocha is playing with their lives.

The officials further gave the government up to Thursday this week to resolved the issue or would be forced to a public protest. ###

The Success Of The Chapter According To Stewart Was Reason For Their Success, Promising That Unprecedented Co-operation Of Members Would Spur The Union To Greater Height.

Others Elected To Pilot The Affairs Of The Union In The Area Were: Daniel Otenyeari Deputy Chairman, While Isaac Raymond, Zilpah Oruigoni And John Obomanu Are First, Second And Third Vice Chairmen Respectively. Temple Jaja And Patricia Jaja Emerged Secretary And Assistant Respectively As Felicia Ibiowu, Micah Tobin And Emilia Ogolo Will Serve As Treasurer, Publicity And Social Secretary, While Atili Epelle And Iwaribari Reuben Serves As Ex-officio Members.

In A Statement, One Time Chairman Of The Union, Elder Gibson Odeyh Who Commended The Maturity Exhibited By Members During The Conference And Election Said, If The Union Maintain Its Stand On Issues Affecting The LGA, The Place Would Be A Better Place And Opobo/Nkoro Chapter Would Become A Reference Point, In Rivers State On The Level Of Its Productivity In The Education Sector.###
