2012 Budget To Target Completion Of Ongoing Projects -Oboh

The Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission, Dr. Christian Oboh says the Commission’s 2012 budget will target the completion of ongoing projects.
Dr. Oboh who disclosed this in Port Harcourt said the budgeting system is being reviewed to target completion of projects because as he puts it “A lot of projects have been awarded since the establishment of the NDDC; we intend to focus on the completion of those projects”.
To further realize this dream, the NDDC boss said frantic efforts are on to provide adequate funds for the execution of projects rather than peanuts, not enough to enable contractors deliver.
“We intend to provide for projects adequately so that some of the projects whose life cycle or completion are less than two years can be funded, completed and removed from the list” he said.
The Chief Executive Officer disclosed that the process of awarding some jobs for 2011 is on while the 2012 budget is almost ready for the National Assembly assuring that there will be no compromise to issues of due process on projects and programme implementation.
On youths’ empowerment he revealed that the Commission was determined to empower youths of the region through various capacity building programmes and skills acquisition.
Dr. Oboh disclosed that the Board met a system where things were actually not moving, but God willing, we are gradually moving to the next level” and restated that his doors are open to suggestions and constructive criticisms.
