Office Of The HOS Cautions Mischief Makers

The Rivers State Local Government Service has assured staff undergoing in-service training at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) of regular payment of their fees and allowances.
This was disclosed by a Commissioner in the Commission, Chief Jonah Tamuno JP. while addressing the students at Nsukka over the weekend.
Chief Tamuno stated that the present Commission headed by Chief Azubuike Nmerukini JP was totally committed to sponsoring the training of staff in the Unified Local Government Service to the highest level of education.
The Commissioner advised the students to be worthy ambassadors of the Commission and the State at all times.
He told the students to consider themselves privileged as the Commission takes care of their upkeep and at the same time receiving their salaries while in school. Chief Tamuno enjoined them to shun vices like cultism and examination malpractices during their stay in the University.
Also speaking, another member of the Commission, Chief Cyprian Chukwu, stressed the need for the students to face their studies seriously and said that the Commission would not tolerate any form of indiscipline on their part.
In his speech, the Head of Department of Public Administration and Local Government Studies in the University of Nigeria Nsukka, Professor Fab Onah commended the Commission for the commitment shown towards improving the welfare of Rivers State
students.
Professor Onah described the State Local Government Service Commission as second to none in the care and monitoring of their students among other Commissions.
The Head of Department however observed that the state quota especially in the admission of B.Sc. and Post Graduate students were under-utilized and appealed to the Commission to fill the vacant space.
Earlier, the President of the Student Union, Mr. Sampson West, expressed gratitude to the Commission for the visit which he described as timely.
West thanked the Commission for offering them the opportunity to study in the University and appealed to the Commission to liaise with the University to ensure smooth academic session.
At the end of the visit, the Commission paid all the training allowances to students being sponsored by the commission. ###
