CARNIRIV Starts 9th December In Style

This year’s CARNIRIV has started with new innovation which surpassed that of last year. This was revealed by the Director General of the Rivers State Tourism Board, Dr. Sam Dede while speaking in a radio programme over the weekend.
According to the Nigeria foremost actor, international artistes are billed to perform as to give the cultural fiesta international touch.
Also expected to be in the line up he said are a stage performance by Timaya and other Nigerian musicians on a stage erected on water.
The seven day cultural fiesta will surpass that of last year as the road cultural show popularly referred to as cultural road float will take the form of cultural parade of colours intermittently as the board strives to bring the best of the Rivers culture to the forefront.
Other actions billed for the much talked about Rivers CARNIRIV are reggae night, choral night and international musical show as Shaggy and Nigerian musicians in the mould of Tuface, Rivers State born musical Chika Muma Gee, Timaya and others shall trill music lovers to the best flair.
Dr. Sam Dede, also revealed that traffic situation will never be a problem for commuters as road traffic expert agencies like TIMARIV, FRSC and other relevant road agencies have pledged to make the roads free for the public to have a good feel of the most celebrated premier cultural fiesta of the century.
The cultural fiesta display is expected to start on 10th and conclude on the 15th of December, 2012 with prizes to deserving winners in different categories from the cultural parade popularly called cultural float of the of the 23 local government that made up Rivers State.
According to the programme schedule, kids carnival started 9th December at Elekahia Stadium Road. Monday 10th December had CARNIRIV monument unveiling venue: Aggrey Road, Time: 8am and also a colloquium at Rivers State House of Assembly Time: 11.am. Tuesday 11th of December Cultural Art Exhibition kicks-off, Venue: Carnival Village, Elekahia Time: 11, Wednesday is billed for international Aquatic fiesta (IAF), Venue: Tourist Beach, Time: 6am, Thursday 13th cultural Exhibition will take the floor at Carnival Village, Time: 11am. Friday 14th is billed for international Heritage parade, venue: Aba Road to Aggrey Road, Time: 10am and Saturday 15th December will have garden city free-style parade, venue Ikwerre, Aba and Stadium Roads, Time 10am.
The release also has it that the carnival praise jam venue is Civic Center, Port Harcourt, December, 10th also has the official opening of CARNIRIV 2012 in the evening by 6pm at Carnival Village with Dance of fireflies (DOFF) at carnival village, Liberation Stadium at Elekahia Time 7pm same day.
Highlife, old school and hiplife jam (HOSH, venue, carnival village, time 7pm on the 11th of December, being Tuesday at 4pm Ekere Rhythm of the tribe of part will take the centre stage same day at the carnival village, Ekere: Rhythm of the tribes part 2 will feature at carnival village by 4pm 12th December.
Rhythm of the tribe part 3, venue carnival village Time 4pm, Reggae-360 at same venue 7pm, old Port Harcourt Town Groove, venue at Aggrey Rd, Time 6pm. The CARNIRIV will by concluded with world peace concert in a closing ceremony, venue CARNIVAL Village at 7pm on Saturday 15th of December, 2012. ###
