2015 Elections: Christians Should Not Shy Away from Politics– Nwokafor

The National Director of the South-South Regional Conference of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship, Mr. Festus Nwokafor said Christians in Nigeria particularly Rivers State should not shy away from participating in the 2015 general elections.

Mr. Nwokafor made the remark in an interview with journalists shortly after a one day entrepreneurship and leadership conference in Port Harcourt organized by the Full Gospel Business South Regional Conference over the weekend.

The National Director stated that the conference was deigned particularly to enlighten and empower beneficiaries from the leadership training.

The man of God charged Christians to take a bold step in political activities by registering as a voter because votes determine who will rule and the second stage is to prepare and contest elections so that “our dear resources can generate more economic prosperity”.

He maintained that Christians who refused to participate should not complain against whoever will rule them while urging them not to leave politics in the hands of the ungodly because when the righteous rule the people rejoice.

Also speaking, a resource person Mr. Innocent Wogu stated that the conference provides direct information on what people can do to liberate themselves from poverty.

Mr. Wogu said poverty alleviation is critical to Christian growth saying that the sensitization is also key to economic growth and advancement. The Estate surveyor cum banker said that there is nothing wrong with Christianity and church, or a Christian been a philanthropic because the Bible is a blueprint for everything on earth but warned that Christians should not be a “shylock” while giving loans to the poor in the society.

He said Christians should be part of politics and should not play dirty since there is nothing wrong in influencing change. “They should go and change the situation with good virtue and God fearing not to be corrupt” he stated.

On the Nigerian politics, he posited that American politics have come of age since 1776 so it will take Nigeria sometime to perfect the political system.

In another development, Surveyor Mr. Lucky Badom has blamed government at all levels for the continuous poverty in the land, most especially in the state, but advised people not to depend on the government always.

Mr. Badom tasked citizens to learn to create wealth through proper training to tackle hunger and starvation. He charged Christians to acquire skills such as fish farm, poultry, and other craftsmanship to create wealth for themselves.

He lamented the non-government presence in most of the rural communities as a sign of neglect and poverty. He enjoined the people to evaluate and score any government at the end of their tenure. “Government should help the poor because government is not for the rich alone” he said.

Earlier, Mr. Lucky Idehenre posited that the current political system is corrupt because those ruling are not truly seeking the face of God.

The businessman told journalists that politicians in the country should put God first in their dealings so that God will grant them wisdom and understanding for a huge success.
