Group Seeks Funds For Humanitarian Services

The “Zion Daughters” is a non-profit and non-governmental organization with the objectives of assisting the poor and the needy and raising the standard of living in the society especially Rivers State and its environs.

The Zion Daughters undertakes a number of social and philanthropic activities in order to contribute to the well being of the society particularly, widows, orphans and the less privileged.

According to the President of the association, Ms Dorcas Kornebari Famaa, the essence of the association was to help the less privileged and to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor.

Speaking further, Famaa explained that “it is disheartening to note in our society that issues concerning the less privileged are often treated with levity, people are concerned with what they can gain without considering what they should give back to the society”.

While in an interview with the Secretary of the Association, Edith Nse Friday, it was revealed that The Zion Daughters” was born out of the need to reach out to the less-privileged.

Her words: ‘imagine a world in which children are free from poverty, live in happiness and have open access to adequate education, imagine a world where children even those born in a disadvantage part of the society can be physically, mentally and emotionally healthy for the future that the Zion Daughters are working to make this society a reality’.

Edith Friday said the mission of the Zion Daughters is to empower and educate the less privilege children to be independent leaders of tomorrow, adding that this can be possible through the help of the government and meaningful individuals who have the desire to sow into their welfare by investing in the lives of the less privileged.

Speaking further Nse said it is necessary for children to be healthy and to work collectively to create better solutions to some of the challenges they may face in the future.

Speaking to The Newswriter, Nse said The Zion Daughters is out to fulfill what was written in the book of Psalm 41:1A “Blesseth is he that considereth the poor, adding that government and well meaning individuals and corporate bodies should join hands with them to make this a possibility.
