Ownership of Belema Community: Akulga Boss May Be Dragged To Court If…

The Amanyanabo of Ingeje town wherein Belema is situated in the Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of River State, Sir. HRH King Barr. G.A Egbelekro has threatened to institute a legal action against the Akulga CTC Chairman, Hon. Christian Otiasa and the Council, if they refuse to rescind their decision of recognizing the purported executive members of the Belema Youths Organization and that of the CDC presented to the Council by Chief Ibinabo Kalaoriye.

King Egbelekro was reacting to a press statement issued by the Akulga Council and published in The Hard Truth Newspaper, last week, warned the Kalaoriye group of Oko House and the Council to stop meddling with the facts and evidence before a competent court of justice.

The Ingeje monarch declared that the ignorance to the law excuses no man said that the Akulga Council acted ignorantly, alleging that there is an existing valid and competent court judgment as regards to the ownership of Belema community.

The Amanyanabo alleged that the said consent judgment on suit No. DHC63/2001 and DHC64/2001 all consolidated declared that, “all the parties contesting the ownership of Belema community are co-owners pending on the determination of the case in court”.

King Egbelekro said, “All these valid court judgments and the pending matters have been formally forwarded to the Akulga Council for their update. But it is very astonishing that the Council approbating and re-approbating, admitting at one time and making u-turn at another”, adding that such a conduct does not portray the council in a good light.

According to him, the formation of youths and CDC is now bestowed on the paramouncy of the traditional institution, which he said President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is advocating to give the traditional institution constitutional roles.

His word, “I therefore humbly ask the state Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to call the Akulga Council to order by respecting the rule of law and the need to respect courts’ judgments.

The Amanyanabo said that any attempt by the CTC chairman, Hon. Otiasa to pervert justice would land the Akulga Council in court.

King Egbelekro advised the general public to discountenance the said purported publication, pointing out that it cannot see the light of legal scrutinizing because it was baseless, unfounded and also prejudice to the pending cases in court. ###
