Impersonation: Bakana Chief Arrested…May Be Charged To Court

Chief (Captain) I. I. Braide (Rtd) of Bakana community in the Degema Local Government Area has been arrested by the Rivers State Police Command at the weekend.

The retired Captain was arrested in connection with his attitude towards the already settled kingship tussle in Bakana community.

The Bakana kingship tussle which lasted for over two (2) decades has been put to an end by the competent court of jurisdiction. By the decision of the court, HRH O.O. Odum VIII has emerged and duely recognized as the Amanyanabo of Bakana. And he has also been classified by the Rivers State Government as a 2nd class traditional ruler in the state. HRH Odum VIII is now the new chairman of DELGA Council of Chiefs.

Despite the court judgment that declares O.O. Odum VIII as the Amanyanabo of Bakana which has settled the lingering chieftaincy tussle in the coastal community of Kalabari ethnic nationality, Captain Braide is still parading himself as a Bakana monarch.

This weekly reliably gathered that the Bakana Chief is conducting himself in a manner that might likely cause trouble in the community.

Source hinted this publication that the said chief has already printed official letter head, parading himself as the Amanyanabo in several fora, the police viewed Chief Braide’s attitude as contrary to the law of the land.

Chief Captain Braide rtd. supposed to appear before a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt, last Friday but the court did not sit. And this weekly authoritatively informed that in couple of days the Bakana Chief will be arraigned before a Chief Magistrate Court to answer some of the things he has done to cause confusion in the Bakana community.

Meanwhile information had it, Chief Braide had been granted bail on Wednesday.  ###
