Onne Inaugurates Youth President

The street of Onne in Eleme local government area came alive on Tuesday January 24, 2012 as all accepted youth president, comrade Ovor Chujor.
Speaking on the inauguration ceremony the LGA chairman, Hon. Oji Ngofa advised the people of Onne to maintain the peace now in place in their community, adding that the days when one or two persons sit down in their house and choose who will lead them had passed and that the council is very much behind this elected youth president.
He charged the newly inaugurated youth president, comrade Ollor Chujor never to be involved in chieftaincy affairs but that he should go into companies in Onne to seek job opportunities for the people for the economic emancipation of the community.
Hon Ngofa said the people are suffering in the midst of plenty because some people stand on the rail of their progress.
He also charged him to set a standard for himself and that no body despite being highly placed can stand against him and that God will fight for him and the council in the physical will stand by him.
The chairman used the forum to warn persons making contradicting announcements on who they wanted to lead them.
Earlier, Hon. Josiah John Olu, representing Eleme constituency in the Rivers State House of Asembly (RSHA) asked the people of Onne to recognize Ollor Chujor as has done, for him to form the legitimate government in Onne from the date this inauguration.
He reminded the people that this has fulfilled one of their electoral campaign promises he gave that they are going to run an all encompassing free government and that they should accept that this is what Onne people were waiting for.
He advised the youth president to keep clear from traditions.
He blamed the long suffering of the people on selfishness of privilege few who sit in their houses to dictate for the masses and grab what belongs to them, turning them into beggars, expecting them to come to their houses to seek for what money to take care of themselves..
He thanked God for the successful election.
In his acceptance speech, comrade Ollor Chujor extended his hands of fellowship to his opponents and called for unity adding that the youth body is not out to undo anyone.
He declared that he is committed to capacity building of the people which and will draw the industries in the soil of Onne to bring this to pass.
He assured that he will not be involved in chieftaincy matters as the elders will take care of that but called on all youths of Onne to be law abiding and look for what will bring progress to the community.
The acting chairman who just relinquished power, Mr. Ezekiel Obo thanked the people of Onne for coming out to show their mind through election. He described the election as the best election ever held in the area.
In the same vein, the state youth president comrade Adokiye O. Ogunobere who welcomed Chujor into the league of youth presidents, advised Chujor to take community policing very high especially in his community Onne which is a gateway city to avoid what is happening in the northern parts of the country. ###
