A call has gone out to the Rivers State government to build petroleum products, especially fuel reservoir, for the people to fall back to in times of scarcity.
A social crusader in the state, Prof. Jasper Jumbo made this call in an interactive section with newsmen, in Port Harcourt recently.
He frowned at how a state producing petroleum and having refineries should suffer scarcity of products they produce.
He blamed the sufferings the people are passing through now on successive governments, advising Governor Chibuike Amaechi to proffer solution now since the rainy day is bound to come.
He has it that in turbulent times, marketers hoard products, divert them and sell it to the public at exorbitant prices which is very bad and uncomfortable to the people, explaining that if a reservoir is in place, they would not have got this chance as people get the products without problem.
Jasper Jumbo also reacted against the opinions calling for sovereign National conference.
He said that there could be national dialogue and that if there would be dialogue, it should be within that ambit of the constitution.
He argued that there was no need for new laws in Nigeria as there are many laws in place, but the executives are not implementing them. He asked those calling for sovereign national conference to persuade the executives to implement the policy and laws in place and Nigeria will turn for good. ###
