10-Year-Old Singer Performs On Children Day

A 10 year-old singer, Olohi Abiodun Kingsley Ohioma, was introduced to the public as she performed live on stage at Isaac Boro Park, during the celebration of children’s day on May 28, 2012, at the Isaac Boro Park.
Olohi had earlier launched her debut album on May 26, 2012. all songs written and composed by herself.
According to her father, Abiodun Kingsley Ohioma, she was discovered singing other artistes songs, and started writing her own songs last year. Little Olohi did not stop there, as she started disturbing her mother, saying she wanted to sing songs as a career. Both parents of Olohi are from Edo State.
In a chat with The Newswriter, Mr. Ohioma, revealed that he is a staff of Nigeria Railway Corporation and is serving as the manager of the Port Harcourt station.
With the dexterity she performed at this year’s children day, more contacts and outing awaits the young singer in town.
Already the state governor and his deputy have a copy of her CD each as one was handed over to the deputy governor on the spot after her performance. He took the salute in place of the governor who was in another function.
The theme of this year’s celebration is “Let’s Build A Culture of Peace and Security for the Nigerian Child.”
The highlights of the day were presentation of trophies and award to deserving winning schools and some chairmen, who constituted children parliament in their local government councils. Bonny, Etche were some of the LGAs that were given plaques.
Fifty schools participated in the match past in all. CSS Amadi-Ama had 85 points, Pacesetters Missionary school, Oyigbo 83 and Emarid College, Port Harcourt, 80, in the semi secondary school category.
Model Secondary School, GRA, 91 points, government Girls Secondary school Oromineke 89 and Model Girl Secondary, 87 in the junior secondary school category.
Primary schools category had Seed of Wisdom, Rumuigbo, 92 points, and State School, Odiokwu, Ahoada, 90 and Sacred Heart State school, Diobu, 88.
Military category, Police Primary School came first with 95 points, command Children School, 89 and Airforce Primary claimed third place, while uniformed youths organizations have WAI Brigader coming first with 85 points, soldiers of Christ 79 points and Girls Guide coming third with 78 points.
Special School category (junior) witnessed Special School for the Handicapped Children, first position, there was no other school that contested against them.
Nursery school category, Sawsea-Shell Nursery school had 89 points to claim the first position, Family Support Programme (FSP) 88 points to maintain second place and Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI) came third position with 84 points.
Earlier the schools were given a topic to debate upon, “Peace and security are the only factors necessary for the development of the Nigerian Child.”
Government secondary school, Elekahia came first followed by Model Secondary School Rumueme while the third position was claimed by Community Comprehensive Secondary school, Rumukrwushi. ###
