REQUIEM FOR MAMA

In my imagination of this requiem
I develop a cold feet
As my pen ran dry
Devastated by this calamitous call
But of her bravery, I did not fall.

I was gripped by your infantry calmness
Hard work, dexterity and civility
Heaven knows how you conquered death
In the mist of single-parenthood
And there was none to call your pet.
Oh! Dear Mama
Where art thou?
As your grand children are looking for you
Daily in your precious bedroom
Your death has once again created
This motherly vacuum you have mandated
Yet I can not figure things out
Because there is vinegar in my mouth
At least of this mystery I stood aloof.
What else can I say of thee?
Our relationship Exceeded that of mother-in-law
So industrious you were without formal
Education, managing thousands
Of farms with cash record at no fault.
