1st GOLGA Executive Chairman Died at 57

The first democracally elected executive chairman of Gokana local government area, Rivers State, Chief Lokpo George Kunasi has died at the age of fifty seven (57) years.
Disclosing this to newsmen in Port Harcourt recently, the deceased first son who eventually is the chief mourner, Mr. Kasi George Kunasi said his father’s death was a big shock not to only his immediate family, Kpor, but to the entire Rivers State.
Mr. Kunasi emphasized that his father’s tenure as the first democratically elected chairman for GOLGA recorded credible policies that were later translated into the state policy which all and sundry are still benefiting from till date.
He pointed out that the administration of his father as a Local Government Area chairman ensured that local government administration benefits traditional rulers and the local people, hence his tendency to pay little salary to traditional rulers, which was translated into the policy of the third tier of government.
The young Kasi said his father died at the time his fatherly role to both the immediate family and entire politicians of Gokana Local Government Area was needed.
Mr. Kasi George Kunasi added that the burial date of his father shall be made public in due course. ####
