Alleged N5m Community Project Fund-Okocha Justifies OBALGA Chairman’s Suspension

The Chief of Staff, Rivers State Government House, Hon. Tony Okocha has accused the National President of Grassroot Development Initiative GDI, Hon. Bright Amaewuhule, one of the suspended 17 councillors in OBALGA,  of diverting a total sum of Five Million Naira (N5m) approved for the building of a market for the people of ward 12, Rumuigbo in Obio/Akpor LGA of Rivers State.

Okocha, who made the disclosure at the recent “meet the peoples tour” embarked upon by the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Obio/Akpor LGA, Hon. Chikodi Dike to the people of Ward 12 in the area, pointing out that the N5m was diverted by Hon. Bright for his personal use, adding that the state House of Assembly could not be wrong in their decision to have suspened the chairman and councilors of Obio/Akpor LGA for financial misappropriation.

He maintained that the people of Ward 12 will get their money back from Hon. Bright, describing GDI members as ingrates, stating that the Minister of State for Education, Hon. Nyesom Wike has failed in the ministry of Education and however challenged him for an open debate.

Okocha, who described Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, as a great man that was misunderstood by the powers that be, commended the National President of RIVLEAF, Chief Alex Wele for transforming PANLEAF to RIVLEAF and charged the Elders Advisory Council to mentor the newly inaugurated exco members of RIVLEAF in OBALGA.

Responding, Chief Emmanuel Dike, a member of the Rivers State Economic Advisory Board and member of the Elders Advisory Council, opined that he is a member of the newly registered APC party, assuring that he will continue to support Gov. Amaechi on what he has done in the state.

While Engr. Sunny Chijioke Worlu and Mr. Clifford Ibe Worlu, stakeholders in OBALGA, described members of RIVLEAF as people of like minds that will continue to support the good leadership style of Gov. Amaechi in the state.

The chairman of RIVLEAF in Obio/Akpor LGA, Mr. Rejoice Wali have affirmed their acceptance of the responsibility given to them, pointing out that they have already commenced work and their resolve not to disappoint Gov. Amaechi, having benefited so much from his administration. ###
