R/S 2013 Governor’s Cup Draws Made

Draws for the 2013 Rivers State governor’s cup amongst footballers in the 23 local government of Rivers State had been made.
Following the draws, participants who picked the draws for group A has the following local government in that group; Okrika, Ahoada East, Andoni and Eleme in that order.
Group B has the Obio/Akpor, Omuma, Oyigbo, Ahoada West and Tai respectively.
Group C has Degema, Opobo/Nkoro, Abual/Odual and Etche, while Group D has ONELGA, Ogu/Obolo, Khana and Bonny in that order.
According to the scribe of the Rivers State Football Association (FA) Benjamin Ibigoni Okobo, a period of grace has been given to the local government councils that have not registered for the competition to do so, to enable the FA include them also in the groupings.
However, the scribe explained to all participating LGAs the conditions ruling the competition.
He pointed out that this year, the sponsor of the competition has tagged the age bracket to 21 years, this is to enable players discovered form the competition to last in the Nigeria football season or beyond.
He maintained that the competition is developmental and not promotional and therefore appealed to participating LGAs to give their full and sincere cooperation to the competition.
He gave the conditions governing the competition as no national league player, in the ongoing current football season is eligible to play the competition.
All players should show their birth certificates as from October 1992 to date within 6 month before the competition commences.
Thirty players are expected to be registered by each participating LGAs.
All matches will be played at Liberation Stadium Elekahia, except the finals which will be played at Sharks Stadium according to the statement.
As a condition binding the competition, all participating LGA head coach must be registered coaches with the Rivers State Coaches Association. ###
